One of the first questions you’re probably going to ask yourself is “How do I pick out the fabric for my quilt?” Take a breath and don’t stress. Picking out fabric for your first quilt should be a very exciting proposition. It should not be something you dread doing. Most of the quilters I know love going to shop for the fabric they’re about to use for a project. For that matter, they also love shopping for fabric for projects that they might get to sometime in the future. Actually, sometimes we quilters just buy fabric because we think it’s awesome and we just have to have it!

There’s nothing like getting that project you’ve been thinking about off the ground. Since this blog is dedicated to showing you how to quilt, we’re going to actually get started making that happen. I hope you’ve got your sleeves rolled up, the kids put to bed, and all the work you haven’t done yet completely out of your mind (which reminds me, I’ve got to pack lunches for school tomorrow… never mind, tomorrow will be cafeteria day!).

Integration is an important concept in mathematics and, together with differentiation, is one of the two main operations in calculus. Given a function ƒof a real variable x and an interval [ab] of the real line, the definite integral is defined informally to be the net signed area of the region in the xy-plane bounded by the graph of ƒ, the x-axis, and the vertical lines xa and xb.

Have you ever had to completely rethink some project you’ve started? There have been quilts that I started, then before I completed them, I had a change of mind and decided not to finish them. To this day they are sitting in a box somewhere in my quilting room. Sometimes you just know that the quilt, or other project, you’ve started just isn’t going to work out. Other times you realize that you’re just not ready or have the skills needed to complete the project. I have every intent at some point in the future to revisit some of these unfinished projects (UFOs as some call them), but for now they just sit.

How many of you still have an old quilt from your mom, grandmother or even great-grandmother that you enjoy taking out of the closet from time to time and thinking about what it must’ve been like to piece it together? It has a way to taking you back, allowing you to think about what was going on in her life at the time. Imagine that 60 or 70 years from now, your great-grandchildren are tucked in their beds underneath a quilt that you had made many years before.

Quilting Christmas TreeI love Christmas! It is definitely my favorite holiday. The highlights of the season are getting together with family and, of course, finding good deals for gifts. I also love decorating my home. In our house we always have multiple Christmas trees, various snow villages, and we even decorate the outside of our house. In years past, one of our favorite Christmas trees was one decorated with a Quilt-related theme. For the quilting addict, decorating your tree with various quilting items and projects is a neat way to share your hobby with the rest of the family.

When trying to determine how to decorate your Christmas tree with quilted items and sewing notions, there are endless possibilities.

I’ve put a couple of posts on this blog already, but before I start writing and posting more entries, I wanted to spend at least one post telling you all about me and why I’m doing this blog.

With a blog entitled “Show Me How to Quilt” it only makes sense to provide some information to those of you who are wanting to begin this fantastic hobby, but haven’t taken the plunge on getting all the materials you need to get started. Eventually, the supply list for the quilter could very easily grow to enough items to fill an entire room (mine does!). Fortunately, for the beginning quilter, the supply list isn’t that long and doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. I’ve narrowed down the supply list to the top seven things I think you’ll need to get started.
